It is the Maya greeting we welcome you with. In practice it means one thing: we look after this house the way we would look after yours, and we hope you will use it as your own.
Mérida outside. Your own house when you come back.
Mérida is for walking early and at dusk. Corazón del Cielo is made for that rhythm: heading out with nothing planned, getting lost in the Centro for a while, and coming back to a cool, quiet house with no front desk, no corridors and no one there but your group.
The house
Living the historic center from the inside
A house in the Centro of Mérida, restored without erasing its age. It is handed over complete to a single group: the privacy of a residence with the comforts and luxury of a boutique hotel.
The restoration
The floors are the original handmade cement tile floors. The original walls of the old building were kept — including the one that separates the pools. The furniture is teak, with handcrafted finishes chosen to last.
Water and shade
Two independent pools, one per house, with an ionization system that keeps chemicals to a minimum. Each pool terrace adds misting fans, fans and a hammock.
Coming and going
Smart locks and a video doorbell at the entrance: arrivals are handled at any hour, with no keys and no waiting for anyone. The parking for a small car (4.5 m long) is covered and has a gate.
The Barrio Mágico of La Ermita
We are in the Barrio Mágico of La Ermita, which keeps an intimate, traditional scale: cobblestone streets, old colonial façades and colored houses, tropical vegetation and a rhythm considerably calmer than that of the busier parts of the Centro.
Beside the church there is still a garden with trees of the region, a remnant of the old orchard that was part of the complex. The church, recognizable by its distinctive yellow façade, is one of the visual landmarks of the southern historic center. From there begins one of the most appealing historic corridors in Mérida, toward San Juan and the city center, roughly following the old Camino Real.

Why red and blue
The idea of a Casa Roja and a Casa Azul —independent, yet also joined— comes from Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera: their studios in Mexico City were two spaces in those colors, each with its own identity, linked to form a single whole.
At Corazón del Cielo we take up that idea freely. Brick red and cobalt blue set apart two spaces with their own personality that belong to one house: two colors that speak to each other, meet, and end up part of the same experience.

About the Suite: on its own it does not give access to terraces or pools. It only does if it is booked together with Casa Roja or Casa Azul.

Arrival
Address and times
- Calle 64 No. 548, between Calle 71 and Calle 73, Centro, Mérida, Yucatán.
- Check-in: from 15:00.
- Check-out: by 11:00 at the latest.
- You can request an early arrival or a late departure; they are confirmed 24 hours before your arrival and we cannot guarantee them.
It opens the route straight to the door of the house. Show this point to your taxi driver.
Access and luggage
- The locks are smart: you enter with a code, no keys. Do not share your code with anyone outside your booking.
- A video doorbell at the entrance records entry to the property. There are no cameras inside the units.
- In the lobby there is a luggage storage area with a lock: you can leave your bags before check-in or after check-out, at no charge. Just let us know so we can extend your access code.
- If you booked through our direct portal (Guesty), the person responsible for the booking must send a copy of their passport or INE before entering. This does not apply to Airbnb, Booking or Vrbo.
Parking
- With advance reservation —let us know before you book—, there is covered parking for a small car up to 4.5 m long.
- Mérida is a safe city and street parking is allowed, subject to traffic rules: more than five meters from corners, and never on yellow or red curbs, in front of driveways, on sidewalks or in crosswalks.
- Parking, on or off the property, is at the guest's own risk.

During your stay
House services
- Wi-Fi: the network and the password are shown on the printed card inside the house.
- Air conditioning: always turn it off when you leave the room, and keep doors and windows closed while it is on.
- Kitchen: it is fully equipped and it is yours. Please wash the dishes and utensils you use.
- Water: there are two thermoses you are welcome to take on your outings (please return them before you leave).
- Smart TV in every bedroom and in the living room of each house.
- Laundry area on the property.
- Luggage storage with a lock in the lobby, for before check-in or after check-out.
- Electronic safe in the main bedrooms of Casa Roja and Casa Azul. We are not responsible for the loss of valuables.
Pools and terraces
- There are two separate pools, one per house, each on its terrace with misting fans, fans and a hammock. When the folding and sliding doors are opened, terraces and pools become a single space.
- The Suite has access to the terraces and pools only if it is rented together with Casa Roja or Casa Azul.
- They work by ionization: do not throw liquids, food or any other substance into the water.
- There is no lifeguard. Children must always swim accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult; use is at the guest's own risk.
- No diving: the water is shallow.
- No glass in the pool area: please use the plastic cups and metal tumblers provided.
- Please use the beach and pool towels, not the bedroom and bathroom ones. No towel may leave the property; if you would like to take one to the beach, let us know (sand means it has to be washed off-site, at an additional charge).
- The outdoor floors are not slippery; the handmade cement tile floors indoors do become slippery when wet. Dry your feet before you come in.
Bicycles
The house has four bicycles for riding around the city, courtesy of the house and at no charge. Mérida is flat and compact: almost everything we recommend is less than eight minutes away by bike.

Caring for the house
Three things we truly appreciate. The first one is the most important.
Septic system: nothing down the toilet
The property runs on a septic tank and a biodigester, so the system clogs if it receives materials it cannot take. All of the following goes in the wastebasket, never in the toilet:

- Hygiene products
Floors and furniture
- The handmade cement tile floors are original and porous. If wine, soda, vinegar, bleach or any acidic or pigmented substance is spilled, clean it up right away: the color and the surface can be permanently damaged.
- The teak furniture, the nightstands and the handmade finishes cannot take hot or wet items directly. Please use the coasters and placemats.
- Please do not move the furniture. If you need a different arrangement, ask us first.
- The house is fumigated once a month; even so, please keep the doors and the screens closed.
Waste and energy
- In the parking area there are four bins: organic, general inorganic, glass, and cans and plastic bottles.
- Cans and bottles —glass and plastic— should be left clean and, preferably, crushed.
- The house runs on solar energy. Turn off lights and air conditioners when you go out.
- If you would like to donate canned or non-perishable food to the Banco de Alimentos de Mérida, leave it in the donation basket in the lobby.

House rules
They form part of the conditions of your booking and are binding on everyone in your group. The first five take half a minute to read; the full rules are below.
House rules
- No smoking inside the interior areas of the property.
- Keep noise at respectful levels, especially between 21:00 and 8:00.
- No parties, gatherings or events are allowed.
- Respect the authorized number of guests.
- Report any damage or malfunction, however minor it may seem.
- Nothing down the toilet except what the septic system can handle.
- No pets allowed.
Full house rules
I · Arrival and departure
- 1.Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00 at the latest. You may request an early arrival or a late departure; we cannot guarantee them and we confirm them to you 24 hours before your arrival.
- 2.If you check out after 12:00 without authorization, one additional night of accommodation will be charged.
- 3.If you booked through our direct booking portal (Guesty), the person responsible for the booking must send a copy of their passport or INE before entering. This requirement does not apply to bookings made through Airbnb, Booking or Vrbo.
- 4.If after check-out you wish to leave your luggage in the lobby closets to pick it up later, we are glad to store it at no cost. Just let us know: your lobby access code has to be extended for the hours the luggage remains there.
- 5.On long stays, additional charges may apply for consumption and services —electricity, water, cleaning of the house and of the pool—, in accordance with what was agreed in your booking.
II · Consideration and quiet
- 6.Indoors, smoking any product is prohibited: tobacco and its derivatives, cannabis or any other substance. Smoking tobacco is permitted only in the open outdoor areas, placing the butts in the containers provided for that purpose.
- 7.If at the end of the stay a smell of smoke is detected —cigarette, pipe, cigar or any other—, an extraordinary cleaning charge of $100 USD will apply for each room or area affected.
- 8.Please be considerate of the neighbors: we are in a lived-in neighborhood in the center of Mérida. Keep noise at respectful levels at all times and avoid loud noise between 21:00 and 8:00.
- 9.No parties, gatherings or events of any kind are allowed.
- 10.Respect the number of guests authorized in your booking. Access or overnight stay by unregistered persons requires the host's prior written authorization.
- 11.No pets allowed.
- 12.The possession and consumption of illegal substances on the property is strictly prohibited.
- 13.The guest is responsible for any accident, injury or illness that occurs during their stay at the house.
III · Caring for the house
- 14.Check the unit on arrival and report any damage, defect or incident immediately, however minor it may seem. Any missing, broken or damaged item will be charged at the end of your stay.
- 15.Do not put anything down the toilet: no toilet paper, no sanitary pads, no wet wipes, no facial tissue, no cotton, no other hygiene product; everything must go in the wastebasket. Houses in the center of Mérida run on biodigesters, which are easily affected and clogged.
- 16.The handmade cement tile floors are original and porous. If wine, soda, vinegar, bleach or any other acidic or pigmented substance is spilled, clean it up immediately: otherwise the color and the surface of the floor can be permanently damaged.
- 17.The teak furniture, the nightstands and other wooden pieces, as well as the handmade finishes, require care: do not place hot or wet containers directly on their surfaces; use the coasters and placemats provided.
- 18.Do not move the furniture. If you need a different arrangement, ask us first.
- 19.The house is fumigated once a month; even so, we ask you to keep the doors and the screens closed.
- 20.The unit is equipped according to an inventory, which you may consult during your stay. The inventory is checked at the start and at the end of each stay.
IV · Pool and outdoor areas
- 21.The outdoor floors are not slippery; the indoor handmade cement tile floors are, when wet. Dry your feet before entering the house and take particular care with children.
- 22.The pool has no lifeguard. Minors must always swim accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult; use is at the guest's own risk.
- 23.The guest is responsible for the proper use of the pool and for any accident or injury that occurs in it.
- 24.No diving: the water is shallow.
- 25.Do not bring glass into the pool area: use the plastic glasses and metal cups provided.
- 26.Bedroom and bathroom towels must not be used at the pool; the house has beach and pool towels intended for that.
- 27.Towels may not leave the property, including pool towels. If you would like to take one to the beach, let us know: towels with sand are sent to an external laundry service, so an additional cleaning charge will apply.
- 28.The pool runs on an ionization system that reduces the use of chemicals: do not throw liquids, food or any other substance into the water.
- 29.The covered parking fits small cars only. Mérida is a very safe city and you can park on the street with confidence; just do so more than five meters from corners, and never on yellow or red curbs, in front of driveways, on sidewalks or in crosswalks.
- 30.Parking, on or off the property, is at the guest's own risk.
V · Equipment and facilities
- 31.Turn off the air conditioning whenever you leave the room, and keep doors and windows closed while it is running.
- 32.The bicycles are for registered guests only; minors must ride them accompanied by an adult, and use is at the guest's own risk.
- 33.Before using the bicycles, check them and report any damage. Always wear a helmet —even on short rides—, obey traffic signs and secure them with the lock every time you park.
- 34.When you are done using them, return the bicycles to the house parking. Any damage or loss will be charged at the end of your stay.
- 35.We are not responsible for the loss of valuables. For your peace of mind, the main bedrooms of Casa Azul and Casa Roja have an electronic safe.
- 36.The locks in the house are smart locks: do not share your access code with anyone outside your booking.
- 37.For security, the property has only two video devices: a camera in the lobby —the common area where you can leave your luggage before check-in or after check-out, precisely to keep it safe— and a video doorbell at the entrance, which records everyone entering the property. There are no cameras inside the units.
VI · On your departure
- 38.Turn off the lights and the air conditioning. If any air conditioner is left on after your departure, the electricity it consumes until the next visit to the property will be charged to the guest.
- 39.Close doors and windows.
- 40.Wash the dishes and utensils you have used.
- 41.In the parking area you will find four bins for separating waste: organic, general inorganic, glass, and cans and plastic bottles. We ask you to separate it at the end of your stay so we can take it to the recycling center. Cans and bottles —glass and plastic— must be left clean and, preferably, plastic bottles and cans already flattened.
- 42.If the house is left excessively untidy or dirty after your stay, an additional cleaning charge of $75 USD will apply.
- 43.Check that you have not forgotten any belongings. The house is not responsible for items left behind, although we will do our best to keep them safe and arrange shipping, at the guest's expense.

- If you would like to donate canned or non-perishable food to the Banco de Alimentos de Mérida, leave it in the donation basket in the lobby.
